Ypsilanti Art Incubator
ALEX MANDRILA

The Ypsilanti Art Incubator was a collaborative art project hatched in early 2013 by several art students and recent graduates.

Post graduation, our cohort of artists, friends and advocates pulled together to create a collective. We met in studios, living rooms, garages and kitchens, in an effort to continue making art. Work on the Incubator was what got us out of bed in the morning. It reinforced personal work, much like the prompt of a good critique. The project expanded to include exhibitions with the Riverside Arts Center, workshops, arts management and fundraising work, and outreach via a website, social media, and printed design.

[Our Mission Statement from 2013] - The goal of the Ypsilanti Art Incubator is to provide a virtual and physical “home base” for artists living in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and create a jumping off point for creative projects and multidisciplinary collaborations.
